I recently spoke to a fellow runner who said, "I used to look at those people who get up at 5:30 am in the middle of winter and go running and think, 'What the heck is wrong with those people! They are crazy!' and now I am one of them!" ... Perspective.
I never thought I could run a mile...until the day I did. I never thought I could run two miles...until the day I did. I never thought I could run four miles...until the day I did. I never thought...well, you get the point.
Perspective.
It's a word we hear here and there, but don't usually stop to think about. It amazes me that we can go through our whole lives and never really have a true perspective of ourselves or our situation...Jane Wagner, an American Writer, Director, and Producer said, "A sobering thought: what if, at this very moment, I am living up to my full potential?"
Do you know what you are capable of?
Have you attempted to figure it out?
The Bible tells us that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. (Philippians 4:13) This verse has always motivated me to push myself to do what I think I cannot do. I can't, but HE can. The Christ in me can do it, therefore, I can do it.
The amazing part of this whole perspective-changing business is that whatever it was you thought was so hard, now becomes every-day-easy. It's like magic- all of a sudden, that big challenge isn't so challenging anymore.
And such is life...having one kid is a challenge, until you have two. Then you look back and say, "Man! It was so much easier before!" Having no kids seems busy until you have one kid. Then you look back and say, "What DID I do with all that free time I MUST have had back then?!" (Because now, I can't even tell you what I do with my time- I just know I have none of it.) Any change seems challenging at the time, but we learn how to cope, we find HIS strength, and then we find a new challenge. If you don't have His strength, find it today. Ask Him for help; He'll help you.
So what is your "big challenge"? What is it that you "can't" do? Once you decide, go ahead- be a magician- and transform it into an every-day-easy- experience. Make magic. Make today the day you "did."
